Jeans: no more than twice a week

This week I managed not to wear jeans a single time. Coming from a town that has jeans and t-shirts as dress code, it has been difficult in Paris to dress nicely when I don't have many other options. But this summer my eye knew better than to buy the typical blue jean. Instead, I got skirts and some pants, but no denim.
Why not being happy with jeans? It all started four years ago in college... I was in a sociology class and the teacher said "so I guess you're all here in favor of communism, since you're all dressed the same way" everybody had jeans. They can be comfortable and practical sometimes, but it is a big mistake to wear them everyday.
Let aside the fact that jeans are never dressy, you can't go to work and you shouldn't wear them to parties or even coffee with a friend. From the moment I say "no jeans today" I have to start thinking "then what?" Is a good exercise to my style sense, that gets to find new ways to express itself.
With jeans our expression is limited to the top and the shoes. Without jeans you can wear garments that are trendy, experiment with colors, prints, create harmony and balance. With jeans you're kind of stuck. Now you don't want to be stuck everyday, do you? nor be dressed like EVERYBODY else, right?
So you can try this too: not to wear blue jeans more than twice this week. And then share how it went.

    Mil besos.

  21. I definitely agree! I wear jeans a little too often but much prefer a simple black miniskirt. However, I do believe jeans can be dressed up with a pretty top and when accessorised correctly!
